These programs can include disciplines like Industrial Design, Communication Design, Textile and Apparel Design, Animation Film Design, Film and Video Communication, and more.

The NID DAT is typically a two-part examination:

  1. Preliminary Exam (DAT Prelims): This is the first stage of the examination, and it usually consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) or objective-type questions that evaluate a candidate’s knowledge, analytical abilities, and design aptitude. The questions can cover topics like visual communication, general knowledge, observation, creativity, and more.
  2. Main Exam (DAT Mains): Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam move on to the main exam. The main exam is more focused on testing a candidate’s practical design skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. This part of the exam might involve hands-on exercises, sketching, model-making, group discussions, and personal interviews.

The NID DAT is highly competitive, as the institute seeks to admit students with a genuine passion for design and the potential to excel in the field. It’s important for candidates to prepare thoroughly for both the preliminary and main exams, which often require a combination of creative thinking, visual representation skills, and domain-specific knowledge.

21. NATA:-

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is an entrance examination conducted in India for admission into undergraduate courses in architecture. It measures the aptitude of the candidates for the field of architecture and assesses their drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking ability.

NATA is administered by the Council of Architecture (COA), which is the regulatory body for architecture education in India. The test aims to evaluate the architectural aptitude of candidates and ensure that only those with a strong potential for architectural studies are admitted to architectural colleges.

The examination typically consists of two parts:

  1. Drawing Test: This section assesses the candidate’s ability to sketch, visualize, and draw objects, scenes, and concepts. Candidates are usually given a set of questions that require them to draw or sketch according to specific instructions.
  2. Aesthetic Sensitivity Test: This part measures the candidate’s perception, imagination, and observation skills related to architecture. It includes questions on visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings, understanding spatial relationships, and identifying patterns and designs.

NATA scores are used by various colleges and institutions offering undergraduate architecture programs as part of their admission process. Different colleges may have varying weightages for NATA scores, along with other criteria like academic performance.

Candidates interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in architecture in India often need to appear for NATA and achieve a certain minimum score to be eligible for admission. It’s important to check the specific requirements of the colleges you’re interested in to understand how NATA scores will be considered in the admission process.

22. NEST:-

NEST stands for the National Entrance Screening Test, which is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

The NEST Entrance Test is typically taken by students interested in pursuing integrated MSc programs in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics at these prestigious institutes.

23. IISER Aptitude Test:-

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) conduct an aptitude test as part of their admission process for the 5-year BS-MS dual degree program. The IISER Aptitude Test is designed to assess a candidate’s understanding of science and mathematics and their analytical and reasoning skills. This test helps IISERs identify candidates with a strong aptitude for pursuing a career in science.

The aptitude test typically consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) or similar objective-type questions. It covers subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The syllabus for the test is usually based on the NCERT curriculum of the 10+2 level. It’s recommended that candidates thoroughly study the NCERT textbooks of these subjects. Students who have passed (or are appearing in) the 10+2 or equivalent examination in the science stream are eligible to appear for the IISER Aptitude Test.

The IISERs use the aptitude test as a part of their admission process. However, performance in the aptitude test is not the sole criterion for admission. It’s typically combined with other factors such as board exam scores, and candidates who meet the cutoff criteria are then eligible for further rounds, which might include interviews. The aptitude test is conducted at various centers across the country. Candidates can choose their preferred center during the application process.

Interested candidates need to apply for the IISER Aptitude Test through the official website of the respective IISER they wish to join. The application process usually includes filling out an online application form and paying an application fee. Since the aptitude test is designed to assess conceptual understanding and analytical skills, candidates should focus on understanding the fundamental concepts of science and mathematics. Regular practice of problem-solving is essential.

The test is usually conducted in the months leading up to the academic year. Candidates should keep an eye on the official IISER website for announcements regarding the test dates, application deadlines, and other related information.

JEE Advanced, short for Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced, is an annual engineering entrance exam conducted in India. It is considered one of the most prestigious and challenging exams for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and some other top-tier engineering colleges in the country.

Only students who qualify the JEE Main, another national-level engineering entrance exam, are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The top candidates from JEE Main are allowed to take the JEE Advanced exam. JEE Advanced is a computer-based test (CBT) with two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam mainly covers subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The format of the questions can vary, including multiple-choice questions, numerical answer type questions, and more subjective questions that test problem-solving skills.

JEE Advanced is known for its high level of difficulty. The questions are designed to challenge students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. The syllabus for JEE Advanced is typically based on the JEE Main syllabus but often includes more advanced and complex topics. It covers a wide range of topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Based on their JEE Advanced ranks, students can secure admission to various undergraduate engineering programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and some other premier engineering institutions in India. Candidates are assigned All India Ranks (AIRs) based on their performance in JEE Advanced. These ranks are used by various institutes for admission purposes.

There are reservations for different categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as per the government norms. Due to the high competition and difficulty level, candidates often start preparing well in advance. Many students join coaching institutes or study groups to enhance their preparation.

Admission to the IITs through JEE Advanced is highly regarded in India and often seen as a gateway to excellent career opportunities in engineering and related fields. In addition to the IITs, some other institutes like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and a few Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) also use JEE Advanced ranks for admissions.
